Numbers and Mystery

My first love.
He reminded me of Dear Sir Sherlock Holmes. The one played by Robert Downey, Jr.
Same eyebrows.
The kinda pointed one?
Same knowing, intelligent eyes.
Who could see right through me.
Owning me.
With just one look.

He has a photographic memory.
Could memorize Articles and by Laws effortlessly.
He's good at Math, too
And Accounting as well.
But he's bad at English
Spellings, grammars and all
And I don't think he'd appreciate
History, literature and poetry.

We were worlds apart.
I could memorize few, but not all
Articles and by Laws.
But it'll take time
Like a hundred years or so?

And I hate Math
With burning passion
I guess, the feeling's mutual.

But I could recite
Stanzas of the poems
I had memorized by heart.

Or I could tell
The exact date
John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
The attack on Pearl Harbor
And bombings of Hiroshima.
Why Alexander the Great died
Or how Magellan accidentally
Discovered the Philippines.
The rumors behind Stonehenge
And the gossips as to why
The Incas abandoned the Machu Picchu.

Or I could randomly say
Lines from the movies I have watched
And from the novels I have read.

I am certain.
He never took a liking
On sports and the like.
And I am confident
I could beat him on basketball
And could shoot a three-pointer on his face.

He was the math equation
I never dared to solve.
And I was the mystery
He never tried to decipher.
And maybe that's why we never happen.
