11 Steps Away...Step1 of 11

Info

One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight........ twenty five.....thirty five......fifty two...hundred and ten.

A hundred and ten steps. That's what it took me to reach my new doorstep. We, a family of four, brother, mom, dad and me, finally found a new home. A bigger one to be more specific. With everything that's great about this house there's a lot that's not great or rather un-great-if that's a word.

New locality, new neighbours and a whole fucking new school. I'm in my junior year, yeah that justifies my use of foul language. People have forever bothered me too much. It's like I'm not invisible but still I'm invisible. To be more clear, I'm that personality type who gets noticed for doing dumbarse things at every breath but somehow no one sees me doing logistics. Hence, invisible but still not invisible. More on it later.

I push the doorbell. It didn't ring. I knocked at the door and finally the knob turned open revealing my mom. Her eyes as always stuck down to her screen.

"Hey, sweety. How was your first day?"

"It was great mom! "

It was actually great if you define being called a slut even though you were wearing an oversized graphic tee and shorts, as 'great'.

"You made friends?"

She asked handing me a can of coke from the fridge.

"You won't believe, I'm already the coolest member of the coolest gang at school. Awesome right?"

"Yeah, great. Glad you are doing well."

"Mom, are you busy? I wanted to talk"

"Ivy baby, moma will talk to you after sometime.okay?"

My heart kinda shatters every time she says  that and that's pretty much all the time.

"Never mind."

I put the empty can in the bin and went to my room. It wasn't much later when mom knocked at my door. I was completing my English essay then.

"ivy, our neighbour Mrs. Cox invited us to dinner, please will you go alone? I have some work."

I let out a heavy sigh. Why does socialising always come on me?

"I have homework mom. Tell dad to attend please."

"Dad's staying late at work plus tommorow's a Saturday, stop making excuses, it's already six get ready"

"Fine."

I didn't know back then that the dinner was the start of it all.
