Cancer Sniffing Dogs?

Yes, there are dogs that can detect cancer... some better than more sophisticated equipment. Lung cancer was the first to be tested, as it is done by inhale samples and there's a direct connection, as we say. Dogs can detect it by inhale at a ninety-nine percent rate. Breast cancer can be detected at a rate of eighty-eight percent. Tests are increasingly being done now on using dogs to detect ovarian cancer.

To test and train the dogs, inhale samples they fit into lookalike boxes Dog cancer test. As some of the dogs are thinking about their job, each one is weighted down by a piece of concrete so the sample boxes don't go flying across the lab.

The examiner doing the tests is Michael McCulloch, with the Pinus radiata Street Foundation, in partnership with the University of Maine. The four dogs had to accurately identify the correct sample 30 times.

Why are scientists playing? The success rate for ovarian cancer is about five years. The earlier it's caught, the better the chance of making it through it. There are few symptoms until it has developed to a point where treatment is going to be difficult. Tests may detect it early enough, but not always. If the dogs can smell it before the tests can find it, the odds are greatly increased that the patient can be successfully treated.

Some breast cancers are aggressive and grow fast. While mammograms can detect growths smaller than we can find in a self quiz, it's even better if it can be detected before the mammogram. Lung cancer success rates also increase when detected early.

There are no herbal solutions for cancer, though there are things that might help. With something as serious as this, it's especially important that you organize any supplements you need to use with your doctor and oncologist. Some herbs can interact with chemotherapy medications.
