There are a lot of people within the logistics community, as well as the pallet industry, that simply don’t understand the importance of putting their wholesale purchasing into a more streamlined process for success. We swear by the following 5 tips pertaining to wholesale pallet purchasing, and we’re very fortunate to have partnered up with a wholesale pallets houston tx specialist to help us compile this list with industry expertise.
So here are our 5 tips for wholesale pallet purchasing:
1. Post more precise info (city, state, zip) within your Ads
The only way for wholesalers to actually know how much shipping and handling will cost is to know exactly where you’re located. Being able to more approximately estimate freight costs will help your wholesalers better understand whether a deal with you and your company is viable for them.
This disclosure of information will ultimately make your entire process of hiring a wholesale pallet provider much faster!
2. Disclose whether you’re a commercial or residential property
A lot of carriers will charge extra for residential deliveries that will also many times be attached with certain weight restrictions. A lot of wholesale carriers will also arrive at your property with the overall expectation that they can property unload the delivery. This sometimes means disclosing that your business has a truck dock and pallet jacks, or a forklift.
Lift-gated trucks sometimes cost a lot more, so these are definitely some of the more minor details that you need to consider when it comes to ensuring that your pallet delivery is adequate for you and your equipment.
3. Unloading the truck isn’t the driver’s job!
Most wholesale delivery drivers are not going to do much of anything when it comes to unloading massive amounts of cargo and pallets. The drivers are simply paid to drive, and lumping from a driver can end up costing about $50 per hour! Most drivers won’t want to do this work, either, so it’s always best to be prepared for your wholesale delivery with a team and the necessary equipment to properly and safely unload the shipment.
4. Always be available to accept the delivery
Your wholesale carrier is ultimately going to expect you to be open for the deliveries during normal business hours unless you explicitly say otherwise. There are typically two-hour wait times that they’ll expect to arrive. If you have other obligations or another day job, these scheduling problems could be controversial.
5. If you can’t be there try to get someone else to help you out with receiving the shipment
You can sometimes get around any extra logistics charges when it comes to scheduling and deliveries, and this is when you have a business owner friend or relative who can accept the shipment for you. There are quite a few ways you can get a shipment delivered somewhere other than your business, but you’ll ultimately want to ensure that you are staying in touch with the carrier and are being as accommodating as you can be.
