A Mother's defeat

"I regret how my life turned out" his last words echoed around the kitchen. John lowered his head like a knight accepting his defeat, losing his honor. Ela, John's mother, stood in silence as John went out and closed the door. Tears slowly run down her aged face, faster than a rainfall sliding on the window pane. Her hand on her chest, clutching it, something she mastered all these years that helped  hold herself together. No heart is more broken than a mother who witnessed her child give up on life.
