"What was that?"
"What was what?"
I spoke with her as we walked into the university. She wore a white crop shirt with a sleeveless white shirt undeneath, blue jeans, and black sneakers. Her short brown hair sweeping over her shoulders.
"I mean. Why did you drop off so far from the overpass?"
I was talking about how the vehicle she rode stopped in the middle of nowhere. 10 minutes away from the overpass connected to the university entrance.
"It wasn't my fault." She replied with a justifying tone. "The driver suddenly put his foot on the brakes and told me to go down."
"For real?"
"Yaaaaah" She told this world so long as if prolonging the sound could prove her point.
We went on walking through the university. It's strange because I only met her recently. I never thought I'd ever go out with a girl again, especially with someone who is almost a complete stranger to me. It's obscure because this was caused by a bet where I believed I could never lose.
"Where do you want to go?" I asked. The plan is to get to a coffee shop and treat her to whatever she likes.
"Could I get everything on the menu?" She asks.
I looked at her, quite puzzled with what she said.
"The deal was treating you some drinks and desert."
"Uh huh" she said with a smile becoming wider and wider on her face.
"Hey." I told her. "Were not going to an all you can eat buffet. It's a coffee shop. A COFFEEE SHOOOP."
She started laughing. I didn't know what to make of it anymore. She seemed so happy with what's happening that I couldn't tell if she was serious a moment ago.
"It was just a joke." She said with a smile still on her face.
Everything continued like this. We talked with each other with little hesitation. I'm amazed as much as I am surprised by what is happening , because God knows I can't even hold an interesting conversation for 3 minutes. I looked at her with interest, she's so full of life, interesting, and jolly; someone who is my complete opposite.
We finally reached the cafe without even noticing it. It was the same as always, white and simple in design. There aren't a lot of people who stay here for their coffee. Usually, they just buy what they want then leave. We went inside to order. I asked her what she wants on the menu.
"Umm..." It was taking her forever to choose. Like the "ummm" sound could go on forever.
"I think I'll go with a frappe."
"and for the pastry?"
"Huh? Oh. Right Right...I'll go with a slice of red velvet."
"Anything else?" I said jokingly.
"We'll I think..."
"Stop. Stop." I cut her mid sentence. Then she started giggling.
"Kidding"
It turns out that the shop doesn't have any cold beverage as of the moment. So I asked her to come closer and look at the menu again. She rest her chin on my shoulders thinking very hard what to replace with the frappe.
"I'll just go with what you ordered."
"You sure?"
"Absolutely."
The afternoon continued like this. As if she is a person who lived thousands of years in this world, she never runs out of stories to tell. All of them being interesting in their own way. I thought to myself, this woman could make a book of her adventures and it might never finish. She is a great story and I'm glad to have entered a few of the pages.
