When speaking of super groups, one comes to mind: ABBA. The group was formed by Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Benny Anderson, Bjorn Ulvaeus, and Agnetha Faltskog. The name of the group is an acronym of all their first names. ABBA as a group were wildly popular from 1974-1982. They previously sang songs in different genres such as pop, disco, and pop rock.
During the time of their career, ABBA worked with labels such as RCA Victor, Vogue, Sunshine, Polar, Atlantic, and Polydor. The band initially consisted of two couples that were married. However, due to the pressures of their careers, their personal lives were affected and both marriages ended up collapsing.
After the collapse of their marriages, fans of the group noted that their music became a bit darker. Some of the members of the group achieved success working on their own music careers once the group disbanded. In 1999, a musical named Mamma Mia! Adapted the groups music into their acts and later on, a movie with the same name was released in 2008. Interestingly, the film was the highest grossing film in the UK in 2008.
ABBA has been a widely successful group recording sales of over 380 million. In 2010, the group got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and one of their songs, the “Dancing Queen”, also got an induction into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

It’s notable that it isn’t quite possible to pick one ABBA song and name it “the greatest” amongst all the other ones. Most of their songs turned into classic hits immediately after their release and this is one of the aspects that turned the group into one of the greatest pop groups to ever exist.
Take into account a tune such as “dancing queen”. This song can easily be titled their best and most famous song because it was one of the most popular disco tunes in the late 70’s. Some of their other hits such as “Knowing me, knowing you”, came out before the marriages in the group disintegrated but it’s easy to tell that there was a lot of going on in the making of the song.
Abba Projects and Current Work
Fortunately, for fans of the group, we haven’t seen the end of ABBA yet. There are reports that the pop superstars will be releasing new music in the course of this year. This will be the first time that they’re recording ne music in more than three decades and fans cannot wait.
The decision for the group to get back together for their fans and release more music has met a bit of speculation after cancellation of release plans in 2019. However, all we have to do is wait and see.
