Acknowledgement of Support: How to Give Proper Thanks

There is a lot of information out there that talks about how to write acknowledgements for dissertations. However, the acknowledgements in thesis acknowledgements are typically not addressed in this manner. Most people don't know what disclosures are even for! We'll discuss the purpose and function of acknowledgements here and provide you with some examples to help you get started if you need them.

Thank you to all of my friends and family who have supported me throughout the years, even when I'm stressed out about school or work! Thank you for being there with a smile on your face every day - it means so much :) The acknowledgements are typically at the beginning of thesis acknowledgements. Since they are acknowledgements, they are written as gratitude for those who have been a part of the thesis-writing process.

Most dissertation acknowledgements read like this: The author would like to thank her committee members Dr. Robert Smith and Dr. Jane Doe, for all their help during my time in school.
