Alaska Horsemen Trail Adventures was established in Cooper Landing in 1997 by Alex Kime and his daughter Gretchen. Alex has been exploring the Kenai Peninsula by horseback for over thirty years. They offer a guiding and packing service throughout the Chugach National Forest and the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Their lodge in Cooper Landing offers cabin rentals in a serene pioneer setting, horseback riding adventures, group retreats, and much more.

Alex moved to Alaska from Oregon in 1963 at age 12. The following year he experienced the Great Alaska Earthquake. In the 70’s he drove truck on the Haul Road and helped build the Great Alaska Pipeline to Prudhoe Bay. In the 80’s he bought his first horse Cyrano, and together they explored the back country of the Kenai Mountains. Alex’s passion is sharing the beauty of the backcountry on the historical trails of the natives and pioneers. Alaska Horsemen is named after the packers that pioneered the Tustumena and Kenai Mountains by horseback. Join us for an authentic adventure and you too, can be one of the “Alaska Horsemen”

THE KIME PHILOSOPHY:

Our passion is exploring the Kenai Peninsula by horseback, and when you visit it won’t take long for our love of the Alaskan wilderness to rub off on you as well. We’ll make sure of it!
