The B-class hatchback is very popular in Malaysia and is the main choice for graduates who are just starting to work. This market segment is also very attractive for users who wish to switch from small city cars such as Perodua Axia or even from old cars.
For your reference, this market segment is also the basis of Perodua Myvi baru 2019, which has become the best-selling car in the Malaysian market.
Perodua Myvi is also considered the king of the street, because the speed and ability of the urban hatchback is so cruel that it makes a joke among people.
This raises a question among us, namely, is it the fastest or the fastest in the B segment?
We collected data from tests and reviews, and compared all six category B hatchbacks, including Perodua Myvi 1.5 H Line, Proton Iriz 1.6 Premium, Honda Jazz 1.5 V, Mazda 2 1.5 Hatchback, Toyota Yaris 1.5 G and Volkswagen Polo 1.6 MPI Comfortline.
We have recorded that except for Myvi and Pol. The time required to accelerate from 0-100 km/h for all models except o. Therefore, the readings of Myvi and Polo will be taken from the official readings of their respective brands.
According to our rating, the Mazda 2 took the shortest time at 10.5 seconds. In our accelerated test, Polo ranked second and Myvi ranked third.
Although Volkswagen Malaysia is still selling old Polo shirts, and the rest of the world is buying new Polo shirts, despite its age, its performance is still competitive.
At the same time, Malaysia’s “supercar” is not the fastest here, but it beat Proton Iriz in just 0.1 seconds. One of the factors that caused Iriz to slow down was the increase in weight of 163 kg compared to Perodua Myvi.
Technically, this number may be reasonable, but in reality, Iriz can beat Myvi. The Mazda 2 has the highest power rating. However, through our summary, the thrust of a direct injection engine (direct injection) is greater.
The lower rankings are the Honda Jazz and Toyota Yaris. Yaris has the longest time of 12.5 seconds. Engine performance is definitely not the priority of these two models, because Yaris prioritizes comfort, while Jazz prioritizes practicality.
Based on some of the tests we have conducted, Mazda 2 pays more attention to driving than comfort and practicality. Therefore, its acceleration is consistent with its own philosophy.
Perodua Myvi may not be the fastest in its class, but according to Malaysians, it is still the fastest car.
