Yeah. You know that famous quote from Montaigne "Because it was him, because it was me"? Well I love it. Because you know what? He is right.
Montaigne didn't care one bit about why he liked his friend (La Boetie) so much. Because he knew one thing that we usually don't see: we don't need a reason to like somebody. I'm not talking just love and relationship but any type of love. Your bestfriend, your teacher (yeah it's not lame to like you teacher and to have a good conversation with him/her), your mom/dad, anybody who likes to be in your presence too... you don't need an approval from society to be able to say "he's my friend".
Because here's the thing: people are different from one another. Like TOTALLY different. Which means that your mom can be the coolest mom ever, and you don't even see it! Truthfully, have you ever said more than once to your closest friends that your parents were really cool? I know I haven't. Well it's wrong. Because if she's that cool, why don't hang out with her more? Because it's not "cool"? Well ef that! I do whatever I think is cool. Life's too short to try to adapt to society. Let society adapt to YOU. You're the one who will make a change in it and be respected. Not the other way around! :)
