Best laptops for Blender

3D modeling is a very heavy task for the current computer. It requires the best specifications you can get in a laptop: not only fast processors but also high performance graphics cards and enough memory.

A few years ago, most 3D rendering was carried out on large workstations or servers. Today, there are many Best blender laptop that can handle blenders and similar applications. Here are some important things to look for in a 3D laptop rendering (if you are more interested in certain laptop advice, you can jump directly to further recommendations from this page).

Processor

You can't really update the processor on a laptop, so you need to get a laptop with a fairly fast CPU. Many operations in blender have good support for multi-core CPUs. The Intel Hexa Core i7 CPU is usually a solid choice for 3D rendering on a laptop. However, not all I7 CPU laptops have six core. Graphics card

Graphics card (or GPU) can help speed up 3D rendering. Most 3D modeling applications offer several GPU acceleration. Blender offers this for some operations, which can I be much faster than CPU rendering (sometimes 10 times faster).

For a reasonable blender to get a very strong GPU (ideally GTX 1660ti or better). Because you usually can't update the GPU on a laptop, you need to choose a laptop with enough GPU when you buy it.

Storage

While memory (or RAM) doesn't really increase speed, it's important to get enough RAM for 3D modeling. If you don't have enough RAM, the system they will start exchanging to the disk, which will make the computer very slow. However, once you have enough RAM, adding more will not speed up rendering. It makes sense to get at least 8 GB of RAM for a blender. 16 GB will be better, especially for production class rendering.

Storage

When it comes to storage there are two factors that need to be considered: speed and capacity. Most laptops come with a hard drive (HDD) or Solid State Drive (SSD). SSD is faster than HDD, so it is generally preferred on a laptop. However, the SSD also tends to be smaller than HDD, so you have to get a drive with enough capacity for your file. How much you need depends on your project. In general, you might need a 256 GB SSD at least.

There are two main types of SSD: NVME and SATA. NVME SSD is faster in benchmarks, but for most applications the difference is not significant in practice. More important to ensure that you have an SSD (because they are much faster than HDD) than the type of SSD you get.

3D rendering is often not intensive disk, so you might be able to use HDD if you want to get more storage at cheaper prices. Also, it is often possible to increase laptops with SSD later if you prefer it.

Screen

Laptops usually have TN or IPS displays. In general, the IPS screen has a higher color accuracy and a wider viewpoint. Therefore, it makes sense to get the IPS screen for 3D modeling. It is not always determined clearly what the laptop screen. If it's the problem, you can assume that it has a rather bad TN screen. Always make sure that the laptop has an IPS screen.

Screen resolution is also important for 3D modeling. In general, at least Full HD (1920 × 1080 pixels, or 1080p) is recommended. You can also get a higher resolution screen if you prefer it. However, this comes in different quality. The Pentile matrix screen is called incorrect 4K and must be avoided. If you want a higher resolution screen, Aero 15 recommended below has a true 4K screen.
