Making the Best out of Your visit to Lincoln Cathedral

There's so much noise about Lincoln county these days, and the attractions are too enticing to ignore. After reading and viewing so many pictures about the Lincoln cathedral, it is only natural that you're excited and want to see all there is to it. But, pause for a while and ask yourself the best ways to get the best out of your trip. The cathedral is divided into many locations, and each of these sites is waiting to be explored. I know you wouldn't have all day to visit them, but there are spots I find exciting and want to share with you.

These sites at the Lincoln Cathedral are worth your time:

The Blessed Virgin Mary

It doesn't matter if you're a catholic or not; it is no news that the Blessed Virgin Mary is the patron saint of the Cathedral church. There is a new statue commissioned in 2014, and it makes for a perfect stand to take beautiful pictures. In the Middle Ages, Mary was considered a Protector of the city. To this day, residents believe she has a significant impact on what happens to them. Her blue and brown tunic represents heaven and earth and in between the two colors is innocent baby Jesus.

The Lincoln Imp

After a tour of the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, you should see the Lincoln Imp. The stone is one of the cathedral's most famous stories. Folk tales have it that the Imp was a naughty creature that was problematic across the Midlands. When he and his friends visited the Lincoln Cathedral, some angels turned him into a stone because they've had enough of him. This Imp is on one of the pillars, and there's light to guide you through.

The Teaching Window

George Boole is one of the founding fathers of digital culture and is a native of Lincoln. He was born in the 19th century and is regarded as one of the city's brightest minds. He is the founder of Boolean logic, the building block of digital technologies like tablets, smartphones, and everything in between. The Teaching window is located in the fourth window of the north wall and serves as a commemoration ground for George. The site depicts the call of Samuel and his response.

The Gilbert Pots

The chapel of St. Katherine is reserved in memory of St. Gilbert of Sempringham. Gilbert was born in the 11th century and was a clever and devout monk. He founded the Gilbertine order, the only English order that existed at the time. It became the first to admit women. The pots here are modern and are supposedly the largest that can be thrown on a potter's wheel. The tall ones represent the men of the order, while the short ones represent women. The one in the center represents Gilbert. Trust me; you'll have an excellent time here.

These are a list of places you should definitely see. There's no point reminding you to take pictures because that is the first thing that comes to mind when you're in any of these locations. When planning your next visit to Lincoln, don't forget my recommendations.
