Business Naming

Are you ready to start a business? Well, probably not but don't forget the name is more important than the business itself. Would you do business with a company like "Dumpster dive for babies"? A business' name should not be offensive in any manner. When you build a business it is better to build a name you like in your industry.

When building a business the name is important. A good name can be hard to find so sometimes you can call it what your business services offers. "Designer clothing on 5th Avenue" if you sold designer clothing on 5th Avenue. There are a ton of issues with building a business including your location in the name. When you decide to move your business you will be stuck with an irrelevant name or if you can no longer carry products you once again you will be stuck.

Is it a good idea to sound similar to a competitor? When you sound similar to a competitor one of two things may happen people may get frustrated and leave or they buy from you. As your company grows big you might have trouble separating your name from you competitor. Drawing comparisons may be a good thing or it may be a bad thing. Competition is always good because it can make you stronger. Competition can be bad because it can destroy you. When you design your name and struggle it is a good idea to figure out what you want to do.

Deciding on what you want to do makes picking a name much easier. Imagine if you decided to LLC "My Bike best business names " but then decided to sell cars, a disaster has been created. In this case scenario you can form another LLC, expand via a division, form an LLC owning the bike shop and etc. When you make a name do not get excited because it may not be available the way you like it. Example: You want form an LLC "My Bike Shop" but you find out its taken, now you have to go with "My Biking Shop" or something to that nature. Often times jumping ahead with ideas leads to trouble.

A strong advisory before building any product is to make sure you choose your business name. Pencil and paper are far cheaper than making your products with a logo and name you will not keep. Imagine you choose "My Bike Shop" without forming an LLC and made products, but only to find the name was not available. Before you spend money on products make sure you have picked your business name.
