Christmas, Thanks, and Family

Zade and Damir just left to go home to further celebrate (that and more), Marcio fell asleep with the baby girl on the couch bed (the baby’s in the crib beside the couch bed), and Narciso just ticked into sleep (his feet on Momo’s lap). Momo playfully massage his lover’s feet, smiling at the sleeping father and his three months daughter. Behind them, snow was falling calmly.

Hon walked into the living room, she had just finished cleaning things in the kitchen, and smiled at her husband and daughter.

“Momo,” Hon called.

Momo turned to Hon and saw her reaching out a cup of red liquid, he smiled. “I thought you were going to be a good mother and not drink?”

Hon scoffed him, “Take the damn cup.”

He reached out and grabbed the cup. Hon came next to him and sat down with a heavy sigh of relief. She continued to stare at her husband and daughter for a couple of seconds, then sipped her wine and said, “I’m so happy right now.”

“Yeah,” Momo agreed. “I can tell from that ever stretching smile you couldn’t hide.” Like Hon, he’s sipping his drink as well. His drinking days were over, now’s the time to savor.

Hon’s smile grow more, Momo didn’t even know that was possible, but he smiled with her. He, too, feels happy. And the soft snores from his lover reminded him how much he have right now that he had never thought he would have.

“I never thought a day like this would come,” Hon cupped her cup with her hands. Suddenly, she broke into girlish giggles.

Momo silently chuckled to himself. “What do you mean, teenage Hon?”

She stop the giggles with a wide smile. She took a breath, “I am so happy.” Momo shook his head, yet his smile was still there. “I have a loving husband who's also a loving father.” Momo turned to Hon and saw how her eyes glowed with undying affection toward her husband and daughter. “And with no warning, I have a beautiful daughter.” Her eyes twinkled suddenly and a tear rolled out. She wiped it then turned to Momo, “And a wonderful uncle, best friend, and brother right next to me.” She smiled, “Momo, thank you so much.”

Momo’s hand rested on top of his lover’s feet, and the warmth on his hand synced with the warmth growing in his heart. “No problem, Hon,” he said, and when he heard his voice trembled, he felt the affection he have toward Hon and how grateful he was toward her.

Hon smirk to Momo than turned back to her husband and daughter, “Cunning, Momo.”

Momo’s eyes went to the window and watch the snow slowly fall down. He was thinking of how grateful he really was for Hon and everything she had done, and before he knew it, he had said the words, “Thank you, Honoree.”

He felt Hon’s shock. She turned to Momo with a small smile.

“I mean it,” Momo said. “Thank you.”

Hon continued to just look at Momo with that small smile.

“For everything, Hon,” Momo smiled. Then his smile lessen, “For hitting me back when we first met.” Hon’s small smile disappeared. “For dragging me into meeting all those kids I really didn’t care about.” He looked down onto his lover’s feet, feeling himself unable to look at Hon without feeling embarrassed.

“For listening to my failed attempts at relationships.” He grinned, “For bearing with all of my stories of encounters with guys and such.” He took a deep breath. “Hon, thank you for pulling me into your arms when I was lost. For pulling me out of the dark when I couldn’t climb out of it. For always pushing me toward a more happy and healthy self and life. For always being with me, as my best friend, sister, and family.” He turned to Hon at last. “Thank you so much, Hon.”

Hon stared at him for a couple seconds before her lips curled up into a smile, and she swiped her tears away.

“You’re welcome, Montrell,” Hon said as she pulled him into a hug. Momo smiled as he hug her back.

Hon pulled away with a smile then turned to her husband and daughter again. “Yeah, that was the word I was feeling.”

“What word?” Momo asked.

“Family,” Hon said. She relaxed onto the couch and lay her head on Momo’s shoulder. “Don’t you think so too?”

Momo lay his head onto her head, “Yeah. Christmas. Thanks. Family."
