Are you an incoming college student who has the desire to avoid getting on your professors' bad sides? In order to avoid it, there are certain things you must not do. By reading this article, you will learn some of the things college teachers usually hate.

First One that makes the List: You better not fall asleep in class. The one time I did this, the instructor chastised me about it after class. One possible reason professors hate this is it does not look good. Another is that you can disturb your classmates if you snore.

Second One that makes the List: It is not cool to be late to class, especially more than once. Doing this can disturb the professor and the class. Furthermore, it would probably infuriate your professor if you asked him or her what you missed.

Third One that makes the List: You must not leave out of class early. One reason is you can bother others when you pack up your stuff and walk out. Another is that it can upset the teacher's rhythm - one teacher told me I inconvenienced her with my leaving early because she needs each student who comes to class to still be there when she calls on him or her to participate.

Fourth One that makes the List: You may not make excuses. Instead of trying to justify why you did not do your work, you are supposed to take responsibility for it.

Fifth One that makes the List: One of my professors deducted points from your grade if you were absent from class on the days you had a group presentation to help give. He said, "I usually do not penalize you for not coming to class because you just hurt yourself but when you do not come on the days you have a group project, that is rude."

Sixth One that makes the List: Do not do obnoxious things. These include talking on your cell phone in class, making loud or crude noises and interrupting the instructor.

Seventh One that makes the List: You must not turn in your papers late. Once the deadline comes, your teacher wants to move on to other things.

Eighth One that makes the List: You do not pull your weight on group projects. Doing the least amount of work can result in your grade being lowered.
