Companies involved in logistics can benefit from a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ).

A 3PL can help you obtain Foreign Trade Zone Access if your business involves imports of international products.

FTXs refer to areas that are subject to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) surveillance and are not generally considered to be within CBP territory once activated. They can be found close to CBP ports or entry points and are the U.S. equivalent to what is internationally called free trade zones.

Import products can be brought into America through Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ). Until they reach the United States, there is no duty on imported products.

Huguet said that while foreign trade services are great, 3PLs can also be benefit efficiency, compliance, and productivity. 3PLs may be more capable of accessing data flow and other operations systems than multiple FTZ systems.

She explained that 3PLs are driven by customer needs such as square footage and customization. FTZ managers require staff and services in order to manage them.

According to US trade data, it is vital to respond to company requirements during the peak holiday season. While companies can manage their own departments, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), are needed to address "inherent risks" in these programs.

Huguet explained that joining an FTZ requires three steps. Before the FTZ designation can be granted, Huguet must consult with the FTZ board. The construction of an FTZ section must take place, which will run parallel to existing systems.

Huguet states that FTZs have become more popular in companies seeking to improve their supply chains and eliminate bottlenecks. FTZs are a better option for all problems.

Huguet acknowledges that COVID and port congestion can sometimes make it difficult or impossible for merchandise to reach its destination. FTZ has certainly helped.
