Darkness

“Darkness, how do you expect me to explain it to you?” he said, with a pentagram tattooed on one wrist and blood flowing from a slash in the other. With glazing eyes, he continued, “The dark, you see, is peaceful. The chaos it causes is peaceful. There’s something really attractive about the gloom. You fight it at first, obviously. Your naive mind has always been protected from the wonders of the dark so you reject it, fight it and run away from it as much as you humanly can. You kick it in the nuts and scream as you feel your fear taking control over you but the darkness, oh so lovely darkness, it waits for you to exhaust yourself fighting and just when you think you’ve won, it clutches you and pulls you with it into a hole so deep, you lose your sense of belonging. You scream and cry for days but the silence does get to you somehow and you stop. Eventually, you start finding comfort and solace in the calmness of the gloom. You get back on your feet and build yourself up, using the dark as your cement. It’s a part of you now; it runs in your veins. You find yourself falling in love with the power it gives you. There are times when you doubt yourself but the right and wrong doesn’t matter anymore. It’s too late to go back now, you can’t do that. I’m sorry, but that’s just how it is.
