I was walking down the empty walkways of our school at exactly 7:01 in the morning. I didn't plug in my earphones today. There was no point.
I usually did so to distract me from the hullabaloo of early birds... But now...
I continued down the gravel pathway that led to our four-story building. A canopy of trees hovered above me like an archway, letting in the golden rays of the sun. I felt the light seeping through my skin and I basked in it as I strode. Silence echoed around the campus, only the occasional chirp of a bird coming through.
As I was a hundred feet away from our building, I finally came to a decision: I would write about everyday.
The virus has been too active, lately; 49 people have been confirmed positive. Geez.
But here we were at school.
Anyway, I my lungs protested by the time I reached the fourth floor. Dang, these stairs are going to kill me sooner or later. The hallway was empty. I sighed, found a tall chair, and sat by the railings. I fished my phone out my bag and started reading.
Basically, the morning was quite boring and all. My whole day was, to be honest. We spent the afternoon at the benches, bathing in the 3 o'clock scorching sunlight.
By the time I was home... My grandfather has gotten worse.
It has been almost a month since he came back from the hospital, diagnosed with lung cancer. The sky outside turned gold and pink, but inside the house, it was all gray.
He barely caught his breath, chest heaving even as he was sitting down.
The virus. This. My life isn't normal as it was, anymore. Except for school. It's the most normal thing in my life at the moment.
