When hiring a second domestic worker, it is essential that you involve your first domestic worker when doing the interview and even during shortlisting. It will help you get the feedback from her about the new candidate, thereby reducing the mismatch risk.

Fair work division

As their employer, you have to ensure that you distribute the work well. No co-worker will like it if they are handling most of the work when relaxing and watching television. You have to also be in charge of allocating the right work to the right domestic helper.

There are times when the child does not like a particular helper but tend to be okay with the other one. When you discuss it with the helpers, though a difficult task, but it will help ease the tension and allow the other to understand why they are the ones who are left with the child most of the time.

Monthly bonus and salary

Having to choose good salaries for domestic helpers might be a challenge. Going for a scenario where you pay them equally might be the best thing to do. But at times, specific duties such as taking care of the elderly or the child and driving tend to require more energy, time, skills, and experience.

It means that the helper who will be handling such duties might require to be given more. It might be something that the other helper might disagree on and thus, leading to conflicts. You must remind each of the domestic helpers to ensure their salaries are confidential.

Day off and accommodation

If you feel that you require to hire two domestic helpers on a full-time basis, then having them share accommodation will arise. In most instances, the co-workers will need to share accommodation, but what if the first one you hired doesn’t want to share with the second one? Are they going to accept to go for alternating off days?

The cultural differences, the older helper trying to dominate the other one might be issues you will encounter. They will lead to conflicts, and thus, you have to ensure that there is mutual understanding among the domestic helpers so that everything goes smoothly in the house.

You will need to sit them down and let them know the importance of working in harmony for everyone's comfort. When you hired them, you explained all these, and thus, there should not be any conflicts regarding sharing accommodation or going for offs on alternating days. These are things you need to sort out during the interview period.
