Do You Buy Blotting Paper? Try These Cheaper Alternatives!

Let’s be real, many of us have oily faces. In order to get rid of excess shine on our faces, we use blotting papers. However, blotting papers can be expensive. Although they are cheapest around $3, some of them run up to $11 at the mall. It can also be really inconvenient if you run out of blotting paper right when you need it the most, like on Picture Day.

If you happen to have no blotting paper in sight during an event, run to the nearest public restroom and tear off a piece of a new toilet seat cover to use as a blotting paper.

INSTANT SOLUTION! It sounds strange, but works. Some of your makeup might come off too since it has been mixed with oil, so I suggest bringing a powder compact with you for a touch-up. You can also buy your own toilet seat covers, cut them up into squares to use as blotting paper, and carry them in an Altoids case (or anything similar) for on the go touchups!

Haha you know what’s readily available and equally as absorbent?

TISSUE PAPER!!!

That’s right. You can use the tissue paper that is used to cover presents in gift bags to blot the oil on your face. Tissue paper costs a couple of dollars for MUCH MORE blotting paper than those tiny overpriced blotting paper packages elsewhere. Again, you can cut these up for portable DIY blotting paper strips.

Some people say that blotting papers make your face even oilier because your skin feels like it has to compensate for the lost oil. I could see this happening if you are constantly removing oil from your face, but a dab here and there on a shiny face shouldn’t increase oil production.

Have you ever used tissue paper or toilet seat covers to blot the oil from your face?
