... the end

‘The lights flickered inside Blythe’s house. Outside, storm clouds formed and the thunder rumbled. After a series of thunder and lightning, an unusual sound came.

“What was that?” Blythe asked.

“Must be thunder,”Wade replied, staring intently at the bare floorboards. Blythe was not reassured by Wade’s reply. She wanted to go outside, but just as she was about to open the door, the earth shook. The lights flickered once again and the loud, guttural noise echoed through the city once more. Blythe’s heart thumped fast against her rib cage. People were scrambling out of their houses. Blythe ran outside, leaving a confused Wade behind.

About a kilometer away, she could see it. Standing under the dark clouds was a gigantic monster. ‘How did this happen?’ she thought. From afar, she could make out that it had red, enormous eyes. Its nostrils were flaring. It hissed like a snake. Horns grew out of its forehead. Its biceps looked as hard as boulders. It stormed past buildings and cars, going towards Blythe’s direction. People screamed and ran in every direction as the beast came closer, but Blythe was frozen in place. “Blythe, let’s go!” Wade pleaded.

“What is that?” she asked, her voice trembling.

“A beast, obviously! Now, come on!”

Just as she was about to go with Wade, her mother was beside them. “The end,” she said.

“Mom? You really shouldn’t have come here. Come on! We have to leave!”

“No. That creature is my responsibility,” her mother said, looking anxious.

“Your responsibility? How? Mom, we’re running out of time!” Blythe pleaded. The monster was—‘

I stop typing. Geez. Writer’s block. Dammit.

How do I even end this story? All this thinking and typing is making me hungry. I mean, I’m not Alexander Hamilton who writes like he’s running out of time. Pfft.

I stand up from my computer as the lights flickered and a cold air swept in the open window. Well. I’m doomed.
