Bollywood, being one of the biggest film industries in the world, has consistently been churning out critically as well as commercially successful films. Bollywood stars have an active fan following in even the remotest parts of the world. While most of these films are well-acclaimed for their cinematography, scriptwriting and acting, one can argue that it’s the music that has managed to leave an indelible mark on the audience. It should come as no surprise since some of the best film scorers in the world such as A.R Rahman work with this industry. Bollywood songs bring with them a trail of emotions to the listener and more often than not, it is the romantic ones that leave the audience with a wave with nostalgia.

Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas Tum Rehti Ho

This song is considered by many to be a classic featured in the movie Blackmail. Kishore Kumar’s voice sounds unmistakeably beautiful and perfectly matched with Kalyanji Anandji’s music.

Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein Khayal Ata Hai

At the time of its release, Kabhi Kabhie featured some of the biggest names in Bollywood, such as Amitabh Bachchan and Raakhee. If you didn’t already know, Amitabh Bachchan has sung the opening few lines Amitabh Bachchan, and the shooting of the song was in Kashmir, during the winter season which only added an extra layer to the cinematic experience. If this isn’t enough for you, there is an alternate version of this song sung by Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar.

Zindagi Ik Safar Hai Suhana

It is a song from the movie Andaz composed by the duo of Shankar Jaikishan and is the second entry in our list that features Kishore Kumar. Kishore Kumar also received several accolades for his contribution to this film.

Aane Se Uske Aaye Bahaar

Mohammed Rafi has lent his voice to this beautiful song featured in the movie Jeene Ki Raah. The music is directed by Laxmikant Pyaare Laal and lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi.

Yeh Reshmi Zulfein Yeh Sharbati Aankhen

This song is from the movie Do Raaste starring Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz, sung by Mohammed Rafi and the music composed by Lakshmikant Pyaare Laal. It is one of those songs that only seems to get better with time.

Mere Sapno Ki Rani Kab Aayegi Tu

Despite its lengthy name, this is arguably one of the most popular Bollywood songs from the 1960s featured in the movie Aradhana. Many argue that this song is amongst Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore’s best works. Again, this song starred Kishore Kumar with the music composed by Sachin Dev.

Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam

Anuradha Paudwal and Udit Narayan composed this title track to the film featuring an all-star cast which included Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit. Considered by many to be amongst the most celebrated romantic songs ever written, this is Udit Narayan at his best.

Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai

Another fan favourite, this song won Shreya Ghoshal multiple awards and has since its release remained one of the most popular songs played at events featuring a romantic theme.
