We've been waiting for the dong to work with Google's Android TVs since we broke up details of the company's plans since the start of the year. While rumors have spread frequently over the years and there are unanswered questions, we now know a lot about Sabrina - it's her hardware code name. Let's examine the evidence.
What will it Look Like?
Our friends at XDA Developers found a pre-release firmware for the dongle and uploaded two videos and a few still images, showing the oval dome itself and waiting for the remote control. find Note that their firmware is from the previous year, so some details may have changed.
Depending on the leaks, the dongle can be of three colors: white, black, and beige in addition to white. Based on these images, the XDA speculates that the surface may have a structure similar to sandstone. As with the latest Chromecast devices, its HDMI output is also visible via the flexible cable above. The Google "G" logo is embossed in the center and we assume it is at the bottom of the power port.
Android TV Redesign?
For Sabrina, a compact design and a remote control alone are not enough. The redesigned Android TV Dongle can also debut with the new device: check out the XDA videos for more information, which will reflect some of the changes.
Again, these assets are at least six months old, so some details may have changed since then, but the short version is that the platform revolves around content-driven thinking with large rotating carousels of advertising content that appears to have been reworked.
It always depends on what it looks like or what it looks like in practice, but if Google wants to seriously promote unsubscribed content to many places at the top of your home screen, this is going to be difficult for you. some people don't see it as advertising.
How Much Will it Cost?
According to the protocol, the leakage of Gonzalo should be around $ 80. It is much higher than competing products like Amazon Fire TV 4K or Roku Streaming Stick +, although it is still under the new hot-tube Nvidia Shield Android TV.
When will it Come out?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours. We previously said it landed a little this year, but that was before the coronavirus, the next lockout, and the latest protests. As the release of Google's hardware and software has been delayed, the company's plans are unpredictable. We may be hearing about it in a few weeks / I'm late, or it might disappear as we get closer to the material Made By Google announcements expected this fall.
