Factors being different among a BMX bike and a regular bike

A 20 freestyle bmx bike will be different in various factors from a regular bike. Let us discuss some of these factors being different.

Lightweight body

The primary difference between a BMX bike and a regular bike is the lightweight of the body or frame. You can notice that the frame’s tube in a BMX bike is around 20 inches only. A regular bike will have the same frame around 45 inches in length. So, the total size of the bike itself will get reduced. It accompanies the reduction in the overall weight. So, you will not feel uncomfortable during your freestyle stunts in the air. It is why the stunt cyclists would not choose a regular bike to do their deeds. Although the material of the BMX bikes would also be lightweight. Overall, this bike would be ideal for speeding through the streets and do whatever stunts you want.

Long life

Another distinguishable quality between an ordinary bicycle and a BMX model is their lifespan. The former is meant for common usage in the streets when the body of the cycle would not get acted upon by any external forces other than ordinary friction due to movement. However, a stunt cycle would not fall under the same category. A mountaineer would go up and fall from somewhere to continue his ride. He may take the bike off-road and can ride on rocks also if he wishes. However, these cycles will not go worn out regardless of your harsh usage. The making of these cycles ensures that they stand great even under tough conditions. You need not care much for these cycles. Hence, the lifespan of the BMX bikes is longer.

Wheels

The next difference comes with the wheels of a BMX bike and a regular bike. The former’s wheel would be powerful enough to face the off-road rides without wearing out. The grip in these bikes would be hard enough to ensure the ride is safe even on off-road platforms. An ordinary bike’s wheels would not have this much grip as the ride would mostly be smooth. The rim of the BMX bike will also be made of strong material ensuring stability. You would not face any issues with the rims of the BMX bikes.

Minimal components

You can find a range of components in your regular bikes. It can be an in-built lock system or something else. No such things would be available in a stunt bike. There will not be so many gears in a BMX bike as speeding variations are not the primary necessity in a stunt bike. There will not be a freewheel assembly that restricts you from pedaling backward. All the reductions make the BMX bike lighter and will help in stunts.

Brakes

Another notable difference in a BMX bike is the absence of brakes. You will mostly not find braking systems in BMX bikes as they are not necessary for a stunt bike. The rider can easily stop the bike with his leg and stunts instead of using brakes.
