Then you can equip part of the space in the apartment for a comfortable gym. It depends on the thoughtful layout - from creative storage solutions to optical illusions that visually enlarge the fitness space. We want to share five tips and ideas to help you create your home gym and store your sports equipment wisely.
Choosing the right place
If possible, allocate a separate workout room. But since many live in confined spaces, this is almost impossible. Do not despair. Choose a free space in your apartment or clear a few meters for your workout. A living room, bedroom, or loggia is ideal for this. There should be enough room for jumping rope, hoop exercises, and stretching. How do you know if a place is right? Lie on the floor and extend your arms over your head. When you're working in tight spaces, every inch counts. Use corners effectively. Use an elastic cord and iron hooks to secure the fitness ball to the walls. You can also put an elliptical trainer in the corner, which does not take up much space. Here you can install the hook railing. This option is perfect for storing skipping ropes, fitness bands, or boxing gloves.
Floor
To begin with, it's worth figuring out what kind of coverage would be the best option for playing sports. Slippery tile or marble surfaces will not work. If you are planning to work out with dumbbells or a barbell, make sure that the covering is soundproof. Suitable for this: rubber mat, cork floor, carpet on a thick base. We recommend taking a closer look at rubber flooring for basements. It is not necessary to lay them on the entire surface of the floor. You can only cover them where you are doing the exercises. Thanks to these coatings, you will protect the floor and provide peace and comfort to your neighbors.
Mirrors
First of all, you will need them to monitor the correct execution of the exercises and the progress. In addition, adding multiple full-length mirrors will make a small space visually spacious. Then your room will be even more like a gym. Large mirrors can be expensive, but the same effect can be achieved with smaller mirrors, only in larger quantities.
Vertical wardrobes, beds, and bedside tables
Do not forget about vertical cabinets if you have a free wall at home or are just wondering how to arrange a room. To not take up a lot of floor space and not inconvenience you and other family members, store items in hanging furniture. Storing weights and other heavy objects in these cabinets is not a good idea. They are suitable for putting towels, yoga supplies, and other small fitness items.
A bed with a storage system is an ideal solution for a small room. If you don't want your sports equipment to take up a lot of floor space, or if you don't like storing items on open shelves, store everything you need to keep close in the large drawers. You can put kettlebells, dumbbells, rubber mat, jump ropes there. In addition, to further increase storage space, use furniture with wheels, such as bedside tables. They are very roomy and easy to move around the room.
Screen
With its help, you can separate an area in the room for training or storage of sports items and exercise equipment. There are several advantages: it can always be assembled and removed, thereby restoring the divided space into a single one. Another advantage of the screen is the ability to store both everyday things and sports equipment. Each sash is equipped with niches and hooks on such a screen, making this item acquire even greater functionality. The screen is used as an item for separation and storage and as an independent decorative element.
