Beginner
The best way for a beginner to start would be with the eight notes - do re mi fa so la ti * Do , in order to to be able to start playing music right away, without having to learn all the black keys first.
Each of these eight notes can essentially be thought of as a separate song. This is because they stand on their own very well and are easy enough for beginners to memorize quickly. Learning them will give you an excellent foundation upon which you can build as you gain more experience with piano sheet music .
In order from left to right, each key on your keyboard produces one of the following notes:
• Do - Also known as "C" or "Middle C" • Re - Also known as "D♭" • Mi - Also known as "E♭" • Fa - Also known as "F" • So - Also known as "G"
• La - Also known as "A♭"
• Ti - Also known as "B♭"
*The note "Do" is not the same as the key on your keyboard labelled "C". The note "Do" is higher up on the keyboard. You can find it by counting up four white keys from "C". If you are looking for the key labelled "C", that would be one white key to the right of "Do".
Eight Notes
Once you have learned these eight notes, you can start playing some basic songs. One easy song to try is Mary Had a Little Lamb. It only uses three of the eight notes, but it is a good introduction to playing songs by ear.
If you want to get a little more advanced, you can try Baa, Baa, Black Sheep. This song uses all eight notes, but it is still relatively easy to play.
Of course, there are many other songs that use these eight notes. You can find a wide variety of them by doing a quick internet search or looking in your local music store. With a little bit of practice, you will be able to play any of them with ease.
