Certain areas are marked as Restricted Zones to alert the Taxi Drivers about the plausible uncertain circumstances that they will be forced to deal with if they take a ride to or pick up a Rider from crime-prone restricted areas. There have been certain legit instances wherein a luxury cab driver was brutally-beaten and then dragged out his car only to be abandoned in the bushes later. This unfortunate incident ended with his rented Mercedes Benz being stolen in broad daylight from a shady neighbourhood. All of this could have been avoided if even for once the Taxi Driver would have been warned to not to go to such sketchy places for a pick-up! It is the App Owner’s responsibility to identify such dangerous zones and block it using the Geo Fencing technology.

There have been reported cases of a male Rider registering himself as a female Rider only to request for a woman Driver! On Demand Multi Service App is modelled in such a way that only a woman Rider can request for a Female Taxi Driver. But when woman Drivers are defrauded this way, it immediately puts their safety at risk because they were expecting a woman Rider and not a Male Rider. Also, many fraudulent activities take place at such dodgy neighbourhoods such as the use of fake credit cards while paying the Taxi Driver and before the Driver realises it to be a sham, the Rider has already run away. The Taxi Driver might then raise a complaint with the Dispute Committee to resolve the issue but result of it isn’t always fruitful. It is here Geo Fencing comes in handy because it completely blacklists such crime-prone areas and then the App Owner informs the Taxi Drivers to not to accept rides for such blacklisted zones.

Here we are talking about those narrow streets of slum areas or extremely crowded areas through which only Motorbike Drivers can find a way through and that too it’d be a painstakingly difficult experience for them. This list also includes those remote villages at the outskirts of the city that still don’t have proper serviceable roads and hence four-wheeler taxis can’t go to such places.

The App admin identifies sparsely populated areas within the city and Geo Fences it. Whenever a Rider books a Taxi for such thinly populated zones, the Driver then charges a higher rate for the trip to compensate for empty-ride back.

Surcharges are normalized with Geo Fencing

A surcharge is an amount that the Taxi Driver levies on the Rider which is over and above the actual ride cost. It is to compensate for getting stuck in heavy traffic and burning petrol, paying toll or even paying one’s own money for Airport Parking charges.

Geo Fencing makes Airport Surcharge Rates justified

The App Owner first searches for all the airports in the city and makes their entry into the app’s database as Geo Fence locations. Airport Surcharge depends on multiple factors such as Airport location within the city, type of vehicle (basic, SUV or luxurious) that the Rider has requested, Pick-Up and Drop-Off Surcharge rates fixed by the App owner. The standard practise is that double the fare is charged from the Rider in the name of Airport Surcharge.

Certain Geo Fence Locations within the city charge higher rates than the rest of the city.

The App Owner requests all of its Taxi Drivers to register their four-wheelers under the categories of either of the three – Basic, SUV and Luxury. Because according to the vehicle type, base fare is fixed. For example, Luxury cab driver will charge the Rider $6 per mile while Basic cab driver will your customer only a dollar per mile. Change of vehicle type brought such a drastic change in the price per mile algorithm, similar to it is the area-specific and time-specific surcharge. If the Rider has requested a Basic cab ride from the New York City on a Monday evening around 7, the Driver will double the amount of the total actual fare.
