GLUTEN-FREE BEER DOES NOT TASTE GOOD

I have tried my fair share of beers and one of the things that have become most apparent is that I prefer a beer with the body, but not that of a stout or porter, and one that has some bitter flavors to it.

I love to drink a nice cold India Pale Ale on a hot day and savor the flavors. Similarly, I have found myself drinking a lot of apricot ales being produced by Dry Dock and Pyramid brewing companies.

Unfortunately, I cannot say the same positive things about current gluten-free beer producers. Although I mentioned in an earlier post that New Belgium may enter the market, as of now they have not.

So based on what is currently available, I can’t say I’m a big fan of any of it. It is so much different than simply making food gluten-free. That is pretty easy considering the principal thing that needs to be replaced is the wheat flour.

We have seen time and time again that companies can easily add a different flour, such as corn, to make gluten-free tortillas or another gluten-free product. Beer, unfortunately, is a much more complex process and needs time to ferment for all of the flavors to come together.

I realize that has nothing to do with wheat, but I do not know how the process works, personally. Anyway, for right now I have to stick to gluten-free foods instead of gluten-free beer. That means gluten-free wraps for everyone!
