Grade 2 Milestones | What Your Kids will Learn ?

Meet a new freelance reader and writer! Simple words and sentences are now small for grade 2 milestones. You are on your way to developing fluency and developing greater understanding. In math, learn to add and subtract to solve more difficult word problems.

Reading

Children identify and use nouns and verbs correctly, recognize simple prefixes and suffixes, and identify simple polysemous words. Help your child get a library card. Introduce him to different books and genres and try different children's magazines.

Whether your child reads independently or with you, it's important to ask him what he's reading and encourage him to retell stories. Share stories about your family and family history or create stories together

Writing

By the end of grade 2, children can write a basic story with a clear beginning, middle, and end. They will also be able to edit and revise their notes to make them more accurate and correct errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization. Encourage your child to write stories in a logical sequence, with little problems and solutions. Encourage him to reread his work to make it clearer.

Number Sense

Grade 2 students will be able to count, read, write, and classify consecutive numbers to 1,000, as well as add and subtract two-digit numbers with greater speed and accuracy. They learn to add and subtract whole numbers up to three numbers and understand the value of space with three-digit numbers when adding and subtracting.

Telling Time

Children this age tell time to the nearest quarter-hour and understand relationships and units of time, such as minutes in an hour, hours in a day, and days in a month. They have a better understanding of when it happened or will happen.

Once your child understands the quarter-hour, talk about 5-minute intervals, indicating that the time is after five, ten, and so on. Keep track of how much time you spend each day watching TV, playing computer games, and doing homework.
