Hold On or Let Go

Sleepless nights. Nightmares haunt her. Not the usual nightmare where something scary or creepy like a ghost appears in the dream. That's not it.

It's far more terrifying. And painful.

It's been five months of no contact yet she still can't forget about what happened that very night. He broke her heart.

Her heart stopped beating for a moment before it shattered into a million pieces. That one message.

"I feel like it's fading."

Five words (or six, if you want to count the contraction). In those five words she knew it was already over. She tried not to break down that night. They said their good nights, she turns off the lights, her tears started falling. She couldn't believe that it just happened. But it did. And she had nothing to do but accept it.

He promised her he would wait. That he would wait for her until she comes back. But he didn't. He broke that promise in a flash. "I promise" my ass. It's bullshit.

She tried to distract herself with other things after that happened. But nothing would seem to truly pique her interest anymore.

She just feels empty, inside and out.

She thought that she would move on from him quickly but boy was she wrong. It scarred her for life. Left a hole in her heart.

Five months have passed. She needs to make a decision. Hold on or let go. Hold on or let go. What shall it be?

She slowly points at...

"Let go."

It'd be hard but it's the only thing that could free her from this cage she is locked in. It'd be a journey to look for the key of the cage that could open it, that could bring back the "her" before she and him had something. Hopefully.
