Info

Windows 10 is among the largest versions of Windows that Microsoft declared. This statement has gotten considerably bigger when Microsoft also announced that Windows 10 will be a free update for people running real versions of Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.

But just like any other version of Windows, this update came with a lot of issues and bugs that forced some people to go back to the previous version of Windows or not update at all. Windows 10 updates worked differently. For the first time, it was unable to prevent Windows 10 from downloading updates and there have been several additional failures in Windows Update that raise Windows Update Error 0x80070422.

Among those problems has been that Windows Update was not working at all in Windows 10, which is not a great thing, since those updates are not simply necessary, but are very important to keep the system safe. There are various problems that can occur with Windows Update, also within this guide, we cover the following issues:

Let's find out how to fix Windows Update not working on Windows 10.

What do I do if Windows Update doesn't work on Windows 10?

• Try using the troubleshooter

• Use System Restore to roll back and uninstall a poor update

• Scan your PC for malware

• Install a new version of Windows

1: Try using the Troubleshooter

Microsoft's troubleshooter is a great way to understand the problem if it's not too complicated. It is the first choice of almost everyone, be it a novice or a specialist. It rarely solves the problem, but it is quite quick and easy to do, there is no harm in trying it later. For this use, you need to enter the Windows Update diagnostic on the Windows site and run it. This instrument will work on its own and will correct any problems if it finds one.

2: Use System Restore to Roll Back and then Uninstall an Update

When Windows Update isn't working, System Restore can be the perfect method to fix it. System Restore requires that your PC go back to the past, as it was working fine. You can restore your problem, but first of all, you should identify if the problem started and what the real reason is. First of all, to find the problem you want, follow these steps:

• Open the Start menu on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.

• Click to open the Preferences directly on the Power button.

• Click on the Update & Security tab.

• Within this new window, you must select Update background and discover the latest update installed on your own windows.

3: Scan your PC for Malware

Windows Update provides updates that eliminate the impact of malware so much of the goal of Windows Update malware is to prevent it from working properly.

Not only this, but this malware also affects other important Windows services. These solutions include Windows Update, System Restore, and occasionally your antivirus program.

When Windows Update is down, you will need to make sure your PC is clean and free of all kinds of malware.

To achieve this, scan your PC with a security program you have or in the event that you simply use Windows Defender, then go ahead and scan with Windows Defender. You want to be sure that your security applications are up to date to keep your PC protected.

4: Install a New Version of Windows

If nothing works for you personally, then it is a smart choice to configure Windows recently using the Microsoft Windows 10 Install Drive.

With this option, it is essential that you back up your data to an external drive as this option will erase all your data. Along with the Item ID of your windows, it should be stored or compiled in a safe place before reinstalling your Windows.

• Press Windows Key + R and enter msc. Press Enter or click OK.

• When the Services window opens, find the Background Smart Transfer Service, right-click on it, and select Stop from the menu. Do the exact same thing for Windows Update
