APIs have become the center of connectivity and communication for all types of applications, services, and companies. There is no doubt APIs have become the foundation of digital projects and integration as time goes by. Meaning APIs have always been and are here to stay.
The only thing to do is to find a way to have these services provided in a unified way to handle all the services under one centralized tool, like the Azure API Management. Find out how you can use Azure API Management services as a Frontage of a Blob Storage Account.
How Azure API Management Service Works
Azure API has numerous easy ways you can accomplish a response transformation from the XML format into a desirable JSON format. However, you can go further by using the API Management capabilities to create a virtualized API. This can have a set of operations that act as a Façade for the Azure Blob Storage destination for your customer's files.
The new API has a standardized authorization system that cuts across all other available services. It can also define a specific transformation policy that has the input proposals to blob storage. You only need some additional logic to get the other requirements like interoperability and logging with other devices.
Azure Blob Storage API
With Azure Blob Storage, there is a challenge to create a set of services that integrate the customer's document management system into the API management. The customer's DMS has been developed with an Azure service, which means you have to look for easier ways to approach, integrate and help your customer on their service unification journey.
All the services deployed at API management have some defined standard input and output formats that cut across the entire collection. This then recurs to the JSON format whenever possible and a REST approach paths. The Azure Blob Storage API does not have JSON format yet at the API response messages. Instead, it uses the traditional XML format. To put this into perspective, the Azure API management service is the perfect tool you could use at the forefront of your Azure Blob storage account.
You get to develop your APIs to be standard, native, and unified, making it easy to handle your storage needs with files, blobs, tables, and everything else that may be available. You can also create a singular response type message format across the APIs. When doing this, do not mind the service provider offering it or the final destination of the message.
There are two ways you can configure Azure API Management services to Azure Blob Storage account directly. The first way is configuring Azure API Management to access Azure Blob Storage directly. The other one is configuring the authentication to a storage account via the managed Identities.
API management service entails publishing, designing, analyzing APIs in a controlled, secure environment. With this information, you can easily handle how to create a new file at your blob storage account and then download it or delete it.
