How Would You React If You Failed To Get A Raise?

Getting a raise from your company calls for a celebration. Sometimes, you are confused to tell your friends and co-workers or not, but, the truth is that you are overwhelmed with so much joy. What about, if you give the opposite? When your request is denied, what will be your reaction?

What Will You Do?

Undeniably, it's very frustrating to hear that, but, it's a company's decision. In cases like this, the first thing that will come into your mind will be to quit. No, don't even try to consider that, not unless, you have a stable job waiting. Take these basic things to do:

1. Evaluate your approach- you may have prepared for the meeting and the necessary things that they might ask you. But, what happened, could be a result of timing or company policy. It couldn't be a performance thing, as they would have told you. Companies also have their planning, which may differ from our own. So, review everything, to be on the good timing next time.

2. Use their feedback as a tool for the next attempt- Your manager will surely give you feedback on why you failed this time. Don’t take it negatively. Use it to your advantage. Use it to prepare for the next meeting with your boss.

3. Consider plans- after you have studied the feedback and ready for the next episode, schedule it when the right timing is obtained. If still you didn't get it the second time around, you may now consider looking for another job. Give yourself a time table. Don't rush things and move immediately.

4. You can ask for nonmonetary benefits- This is another option. If you think you still love to work in the same company, settle for other benefits or rewards. They may be is capable of giving it.

5. Don’t lose hope or discourage- failing to get a raise doesn't mean that the company doesn't need you. There must be a solid reason for the decision. The company may be out of budget already.

6. Continue to work hard- go on with your work. Don't allow frustration to sink in. Strive more and if not now, maybe shortly, you will be noticed and will be rewarded. All companies love a good worker and no doubt about that.

There is no reason to get sad over a denial. Keep working and you will get a notice in time. Don't stop how to ask for a raise asking for a raise, until you succeed.
