I died a thousand times

Hush, hush! Did you hear?

The call of a voice, or was it a whine?

Timid & weak, as it seems.

It speaks of something concealed with fear.

The voice sobs & sighs.

As one on the verge to perish.

Why does it hurt so much to listen?

It's agony sheds these eyes.

It's screams pierced through your heart.

"Ignored, rejected & denied.

Each day we are falling apart"

The voice said "I am the heart".

"At 10, we were the best of friends.

At 17, together, laughing & crying"

By 21, you became someone else.

Scared of the risk, now my opinion offends."

"From when you stopped playing the rhymes,

To living & believing the world's lies.

Our co-incided terms, you often defy.

My dear, I died a thousand times."
