I'll Be There

Info

We dreamt less

But we dreamt together

The joy of walking across the beach

Marveling at the sunset and its burgundy fair.

We dreamt less

But we dreamt together

Of those kisses and cuddles

Of those promises and forever.

It was a pity, I had to depart

Away from those promises into oblivion;

To continue my inevitable voyage

Towards the land of nonentity;

A land where

No traveler, no minstrel none ever

Saw his return from.

But even so;

I’ll be there

In the morning streak of sunlight

That penetrates its way

Through the cloudy mist.

I’ll be there

Holding your hand

Guiding your path

Caressing your dripping tears.

I’ll be there

Lingering in the air around you,

Smiling at the traces of your feet

On the impeccable snow.

I’ll be there

Softly holding your hand,

Walking beside you

Trailing your path.

I’ll be there

In the hum of crickets

Around my grave

Singing you a lullaby through them.

But I’ll be there—forever

Guiding your way

Through my unearthly appearance;

For , though, we dreamt less

We dreamt together.

thank you so very much! it means a lot!
I'm not a poet by any means, but I loved the way you've seamlessly moved the context from one stanza to another. As a writer, a little elaboration on WHY he's/she's going away would give a richer texture to the poem. If this is your first go at poetry, kudos; you've really hit the nail on the head here. Looking forward to more endearing poems like these! :)

well i did give a reason. it said she went into 'a land of nonentity, a land where no traveler, no minstrel ever saw his return from' which meant death. then again in second last paragraph i mentioned her singing a lullaby through crickets around her grave. i wrote it with this 'death cannot do us apart' feeling. thank you so much for giving your opinion. It really means a lot!! :)

Hi Garvika! This is a beautiful piece. I'm an amateur writer but I feel like this does not need any changes. I'm in love with the fist three verses. Keep writing :)
