In Quest Of...

Info

I had been a lonely hunter

In quest of unicorns that my brain asked me to find.

Went in search for everything,

And was on the verge of gaining nothing.

Went in quest  of money and power

And gained "success" in this futile world of materialism...

My ambitious brain asked me for even more

But there was somebody within me asking me to pause for a while -

Yes, it was my aching heart -

Poor old thing trapped in this young rebellious body,

I think I had completely forgotten his existence.

My brain's orders were louder than my heart's desires-

Maybe that's why  I couldn't hear his weak mourns.

I think I am getting weaker too...

For I can clearly hear his words.

Or.. Am I getting stronger to let him speak out?

He is asking for love, not money,

He is asking for freedom, not luxury,

And he is asking for compassion, not envy.

Yes, he is mild but strong.

And it was the weaker me who couldn't hear him.

Dear brother, I know I am late -

But trust me, I am going to let go this idiotic ignorance.

I am going to follow you - your loving pieces of advice

Rather than the brain's arrogant orders.

And let us begin our quest once again

Not for the unicorns-

But for peace, love, joy and beauty.

Hi Neeraja! I'm not much of writer but I hope you would take my opinion constructively. I think the connection of ideas is not quite smooth and the there are some parts which are vague. But overall, your poem is inspiring and it tackles real life problems everyone encounters and it's really nice because your poem tries to inspire us to conquer them ultimately. :)

I agree. There are parts that are confusing, and there are parts that do not fully strengthen the topic/issue being talked about. Though I really like the poem. Take our advice as a motivational inspiration for you to improve your writing. Keep on writing, dear!
