In retrospect.

Info

As I retrospect, I realise

I have forgotten how you look like,

How your ears cringe when you're alert,
How your forehead wrinkles when you raise eyebrows,
How your pupils dilate when you relax,
How the corners of your lips form a crease when you smile... I have forgotten everything...

I have forgotten the sound of your voice,

Of your weary sigh,
Of your hysterical laugh,
Of your sinful moan,
Of your silent whisper... I have forgotten everything...

I have forgotten how you feel like,

The liveliness of your eyes,
The softness of your lips,
The glow of your face,
The innocence it portrays... I have forgotten everything...

So, now if I go, I won't try to remember anything about you.
Yet, I'll be overwhelmed, heartbroken and drenched in vague memories, I know...
Slowly but silently, the emotional outburst will continue to pour out in the seas,
Until the time, nothing but emptiness shall be left with me...

P.S. While I was writing this piece, I realised we invest so much of our time and energy with those around us that we forget that love begins within. Emotional attachments aren't always healthy. Once you get used to a certain being, their absence consumes you.

Sometimes, you don't find happiness and peace in things and situations. You always look for it in a person who means the world to you. Maybe, this is why you end up getting hurt; as coming home for you is to be with the person.

One thing I don't understand is why do we make our homes out of human beings, why make them our reason for happiness? A home is supposed to protect you from every calamity that befalls you, its four walls keeping you safe. But, when they (humans) leave, everything crumbles down leaving you vulnerable and weak, and then nothing but a void remains.

Perhaps, we know the answers but we are too weak to accept it.
