James Sackl: A Man on a Mission

Info

Interviews with entrepreneurs are always fascinating. It’s a chance to peak inside the mind of someone who has taken the plunge, put everything on the line, and come out successful on the other side. In this interview, we sit down with James Sackl, the founder of two businesses. He tells us what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur.

The Early Years

James’s entrepreneurial journey started early. When he was just 11 years old, he started buying and selling baseball cards. “I realized that I could make more money by buying low and selling high than I could mowing lawns or babysitting,” he says. This early foray into business taught him two things that would serve him well in his future endeavors: the importance of research and the power of negotiation. “If you want to be successful in business, you have to be willing to put in the work and learn as much as you can about your industry,” he advises. “And you have to be able to negotiate—whether it’s for lower prices from suppliers or higher prices from customers.”

The Journey to entrepreneurship

After graduating from college, James worked in sales for a few years. He enjoyed the challenge of finding new customers and growing revenue, but he quickly realized that he wanted more than just a paycheck—he wanted to build something of his own. So in 2006, he took the leap and started his first company, Bags of Love. The online retailer sold personalized bags and luggage, an idea that James had come up with while working in retail himself. “I saw a gap in the market for customizable products,” he explains. “No one was really doing it well at that time, so I saw an opportunity to fill that void.”

James admits that starting a business is not for the faint of heart. It takes long hours, dedication, and a lot of hustle. But for him, it was worth it. “I love the freedom and flexibility that comes with being my own boss,” he says. “I also love the challenge of building something from scratch and seeing it grow over time.”

Conclusion:

For anyone considering entrepreneurship, James Sackl is living proof that it can be done—and done well! If you have an idea for a business, don’t let anything hold you back from pursuing it—research your industry thoroughly, put together a strong team of experts (if you can), and go for it! You never know where your entrepreneurial journey might take you…
