Kaya wasn’t sure where she’s going exactly, but her instincts are so strong that she didn’t care. She didn’t care about the strong winds blazing by her. She didn’t care about the voices that are raging inside of her. She didn’t care that the wind blades are actually magics using to kill.
Kaya!
Please!
If this is the only time that you’ll listen…
… then it has to be this!
Please leave.
Rojin can save himself.
I assure you.
If that is what you want.
Just leave.
Now would be most preferable.
The voices kept repeating this over and over but Kaya didn’t care before they started, so she wasn’t going to care even now.
Suddenly, a wind blade blazed in front of Kaya. Somehow she was able to abruptly stop, a fine inch away from the wound that could have been.
Kaya!
Oh my-
Are you alright?
“What was that?” Kaya asked. Like the many times that happened, her body doing things without her commanding them, Kaya knew it was the voices.
Are you hurt?
Kaya’s not bleeding, right?
Kaya?
The voices, as they’ve always done, ignored her again. Which proves that Kaya was right. At times, the voices can control her.
No Kaya.
Only when we need to.
We promised-
Don’t go talking nonsense now!
But we promised, Kaya.
This is your body.
Are you alright?
Kaya…
Kaya don’t answer them but proceed to what she was doing; looking for Rojin.
Kaya…
I promise you.
Rojin will be fine.
Kaya turned to her left and started that way. The wind blades had now made everywhere foggy with the dirt. She can barely see five feet away, but her instincts knew Rojin would be over there.
Please.
Kaya.
Kaya-
“Kaya!” someone called. Kaya knew exactly who it was, Rojin.
Happiness flow through Kaya, and she turned toward the voice. Suddenly she saw Rojin’s figure. Rojin seem to be looking for Kaya as well as his head is turning to all direction.
“Ro-” Kaya was about to call Rojin when a blade struck right in front of her, shocking Kaya as she fall onto the ground, her butt first onto the ground.
Rojin heard her as he turned to her direction. “Kaya!”
He ran toward Kaya, but Kaya must have been wrong, because she thought Rojin would have to do more running to get to her, yet he was beside her in a flash.
“Are you alright?” Rojin asked.
Then he startled as he raised his hand in front of Kaya, holding his sword, blocking another wind blade.
“Kaya?” Rojin asked after the blade died out. But another appeared and Rojin blocked it again. “Dammit!”
Using a free hand, he grabbed Kaya’s wrist, “Come on. We got to-”
This time, Kaya saw the wind blade first, coming from behind Rojin. Kaya tried to warned him but it was too late. It struck Rojin and sent him flying a couple feet. Caring too much about Rojin, Kaya didn’t even noticed that Rojin let go of her already and that she’s following Rojin instead.
“Rojin!” Kaya shouted and reached out to him. Dangers is with Rojin but it’s also protection that Kaya felt with Rojin.
“No, Kaya-” Rojin didn’t get to finish because a wind blade came from behind him and struck him down. But he quickly sat up and pointed the sword at Kaya. Suddenly, the sword broke apart and formed into four clear walls that surrounded Kaya.
I was right!
He’s a Shiwon.
Kaya, please be careful!
Kaya…
Kaya was still fascinated by Rojin and realization that the voices might be right slowly leaked to her conscious. But another bigger realization took that over; Rojin was now vulnerable without his weapon.
“Rojin!” Kaya shouted. That’s when she saw it. A mass of wind blades coming toward Rojin from all sides. Worries swept through her and without any thinking but not wanting to lose Rojin, Kaya dashed toward Rojin, breaking the weak walls that the sword offered.
Rojin knew the wind blade wasn’t meant to be for him, but the person he was protecting, that is why he sent her his sword. Yet she’s running toward him right now. He wanted to told her to stop and that he will recover, but it was too late. He was too weak to even raise his hand, too weak to even strengthen the walls.
Seeing that Rojin was falling asleep, Kaya picked up her speed.
“Come on guys,” Kaya begged the voices. “Lend me a hand.”
Not for him, Kaya.
I’m sorry, Kaya.
He’ll be alright, kaya.
Trust me, Kaya.
Anger bubbled in Kaya again, but seeing the blades closing in encouraged her to run faster. But Kaya knew she won’t be able to reach Rojin in time. The voices are making her even slower - no- the voices are making time slower.
I’m sorry, Kaya.
Trust me, Kaya.
This is for the best.
Kaya…
Still Kaya kept running. But she was right, she was too late. Time started settling back to normal after the first blade reached Rojin. Kaya’s body stopped running when another struck Rojin. Then another. Dust collected around Rojin and concealed the murderous act from Kaya. Tears swelled up, but Kaya wasn’t done. The voices are crude, she made her mind up, she’s going to Rojin regardless.
No!
Kaya!
Please!
Don’t!
I sensed it!
Don’t!
Kaya!
Then Kaya saw what the voices referred to as “it.” A sword of colors, just like the one protecting Kaya, of four walls concealed Rojin. Kaya stepped closer, wondering why she can break the other walls yet the wind blades couldn’t break these. That’s when the walls broke apart and reformed back into a sword.
Revealed was a man, young as Rojin, wise as Rojin, mysterious as Rojin, yet a little kinder; as his eyes rested on Rojin with pure worries and all the care in the world. His hand went up to Rojin’s face, and he caressed it with so much emotions, Kaya was convinced this is not their first meeting.
Suddenly he looked toward Kaya, his eyes blue and beautiful, standing out as his skin's a darker tan. Using his hand, he sent the sword toward Kaya in a flash and blocked a wind blade from behind Kaya.
“Come over here,” he said. His voice calm like this was not the first time he’ve done this, yet passionate enough to care about others.
Kaya couldn’t help but obliged.
Reej!
Reej!
Reej!
Reej!
Reej!
Kaya thought the voices had made another nickname for the stranger, but they didn’t as she remembered that Rojin had mentioned that name.
“Reej,” Kaya whispered to the voices.
Kaya.
Don’t.
Please!
Don’t.
Run the other way.
Go away!
“Guys,” Kaya said. “I will die if I do that. He can protect me.”
Kaya.
You don’t understand.
“He’s protecting Rojin. What’s there to not understand?”
That’s exactly it.
Rojin’s dangerous.
He’s dangerous!!!
But that didn’t stop Kaya. Kaya went to him and he smiled. He pulled her behind him and commanded his sword again.
“Hold on tight to me,” the stranger said as he pat his shoulder. Kaya obliged and grabbed his shoulders.
The sword flew back to them and sweeped under their feets.
Kaya looked at the stranger. He just smiled. The sword then flew up and took them with it. Excitement sworn through Kaya as the voices yelled at her, dismissed her, accused her.
“Kaya?” Rojin said. Kaya brought back her attention to Rojin instead of the blue sky they are on.
“I’m here,” Kaya said.
“And I’m here,” the stranger said.
Kaya was glad she was looking at Rojin when the stranger said that. Because Rojin’s face light up in a way she never saw before in their short time spent with each other.
