People made fun of the feathers on her back - as if it was her fault she had one - as if it was too wrong to have one.
They hated her for being different and growing up she thought they were right. So, she clipped the feathers, hid the scars on her back and lived like everyone else.
But the hate--they never went away.
The shadows of the long gone feathers haunted her and people made sure it always will.
'Till one day, she met a woman on the road. Her eyes twinkling with life as her long hair danced with the wind. She was beautiful--not because of the color of her skin or the perfectness of her dress.
She was glowing with confidence-- a beauty not dictated by other people but by one's own choice.
And when the woman spreads her wings to fly, how she wished she had one----that she still had one. But the feathers on her back were gone and the only evidence left is the scar that never healed.
Do wings ever grow again?
