Laptop Repair | Things you Need to Do - Explained!

Your Laptop contains important information, much of it private. Laptop repair in Hove who will repair it may need to alter Windows, which generally requires access to your password-protected administrator account. They're probably honest, but you can't count on that.

And even if they're honest, they may still wipe your hard drive out of necessity or incompetence. But with the right precautions, taking your PC on a service trip shouldn't result in a disaster.

Put Important Files in the Cloud

If you plan to work while your Laptop is in the store, make sure the files you need for your current projects are in your Dropbox, OneDrive, or other cloud storage folder. This way the files can be easily retrieved on another Laptop. Any changes you make to these files on this other Laptop will be automatically synced to your real Laptop when you restore it.

Backup

Then back up your hard drive or SSD. So, if the professionals wipe your hard drive and reinstall Windows from scratch, you can recover all the data files. And if they really mess things up, how can you restore Windows before sending it to him.

But be careful, if there is a good reason to restore them, restoring everything from an image backup can restore a problem that needs to be repaired in the first place. If you think this is a good idea, consult a professional for repairs. I recommend using a backup tool and an external hard drive for backup.

Protect Sensitive Files

You have files that people don’t want to see. These include bank and credit card returns, tax forms, or anything else that might embarrass you. You must encrypt or securely delete these files. After all, you saved them.

Make your PC Accessible

Perhaps the repairmen will need to restart your Laptop. Instead of giving them the password on paper, turn off the Windows login password.

Don't Assume they Know the Problem

Yes, you told them what happened on the phone, but that doesn’t mean the message reached the right people. Write a detailed description of the problem. Save the file in the Start folder in the Start menu, which you can do by entering the path in the file name field.

In this way, the file is loaded automatically when it is launched. Then print the file and place the hard copy on the body of your Laptop.
