Life and Death

D: Hello

L: Hi

D: You're Warm

L: You're Cold

D: You look so bright and deathless

L: So seem so dark and lifeless

D: Hello

L: Hi

D: Where do you come from o child of the light?

L: I came from a place that has never seen night.

D: Such a pity that must be to have no moon or stars. There's no darkness to hide all your wounds and scars.

L: Not at all, there is nothing to pity about me. These wounds would only hurt me temporarily.

D: Hello

L: Hi

D: May I ask?

L: Sure.

D: Why do you live?

L: Pardon?

D: I'm sorry. That must have been the wrong question.

L: Then what is it really? I don't want to be lost in confusion.

(Silence)

D: I have never found a solution to this unending death. I have never heard any melody except these  requiems taking breath.

I have lost all words and now all I have is silence.

L: Silence?

D: Yes. Silence. Obedience to my oath in taking the throne. A proof of my compliance.

L: What kind of throne is it that we speak?

D: A throne that never deceives, a throne without any tricks.

L: You say that as if everything else does otherwise. Like every moment in this world is full of lies.

D: Am I wrong? Tell me. When was the last time that you saw a man sincere? Do you walk in the streets at night without any fear?

L: Yes I know there are men less generous. But that doesn't mean that all of them are treacherous. You should not see things in a clear black shade. Think of all the wonders life has made.

(Silence)

D: So is it wrong that I am me?

L: No I didn't mean that, please don't flee.

D: You talk of me like I am nothing but remorse. And here you are trying to change me by force.

L: I'm sorry. This is not how I wanted things to happen.

D: So are you now saying that you are mistaken?

L: No.

D: No?

L: I will not waver because that's just who I am.

*Death laughs*

D: Then how exactly are you any different from them?

*Life does not reply*

D: You show the beauty of things to men. Yet this beauty is also where illusion could stem. Like cocaine they sniff all the pleasures you bring. That is why when I come I am felt with a sting. They don't bother to recognize who I am anymore. Unlike those days of plagues where they embraced me before. They are blinded so much with your dazzling light. That I become nothing but a cause for fright.

L: I'm sorry.

D: No. We are way beyond the point of appologies. That's as pathetic as those words only uttered in eulogies.

L: You know that I never intended all this. I never wished to be worshipped like a goddess of bliss.

D: Yet here we are in the rift of our being. I can never join in the banquet you are eating.

L: Death?

D: Life.

L: I am sorry

D: Do not worry.

L: How did we meet? I forgot.

D: Typical.

L: Sorry.

D: No. You are not.

(Silence)
