Is Life Real or an illusion? This is a question which has been intriguing people since ages and still that question has never had a perfect solution. But that question also does not have that much relevance in the world because the world is too busy to think about all this, but even among this busy world there are some people who have understood the true relevance of this question and are curious to get some answers. If one goes searching for the answers, he/she will get plenty of them which when measured will have equal amount of answers for both sides of the question. I do have answers but not like the ones which you will have commonly got, if you ask me, I would say that Life is Real as well as Life is an Illusion.
The answer which I have given will have created more confusion in you, but before I explain my theory I’ll just give a brief account of what the great people who have their marks in the sands of time say to this question.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the 19th century poet, in his poem “A Psalm of Life”, he gives his views regarding illusive life. He writes:
Tell me not in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream,
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest...
This is not all there is also some voice from the opposite side and this is one’s a roar! In Buddhism it is said that Life is an Illusion, and not only this even the Hindu sages say that Life Is an Illusion. Now whom to believe, whether the thoughtful poet or the wise sages, I would believe in both because I am not interested in hurting any of them.
So, here is my theory regarding this question: Life is real when we have some quest to take up, and is an illusion when we are depressed. When we have some quest to take up if we think that life is real it will make us to do the work whole heartedly. In the mean time if we have failed in something and are totally depressed we can make our self feel better by thinking that Life is just an Illusion so why to worry about our failures, let us just start again.
All these theories, all these questions and all this knowledge, what use is it for us once we reach our death bed it’s all going to vanish from us forever. But I do believe there is a reason for our existence and all this drama, only thing is that we do not know about it. Something which does not appear is not that it does not exist; above all there is the Supreme Being who knows everything, perhaps not even He.
