Manipulator friend

Have you ever had a friend that constantly spins lies, betrays you and then somehow manages to still be in your life?

We've all been there. That friend who plays the victim card and tugs at your heartstrings.

The conversation often goes like this:

You: “So why did you lie?”

Manipulator: “I'm not in a good place right now. I'm depressed and nobody is there for me, including you.”

The use of the word “you” makes it personal. Now that he's added you into the story, you will instantly become overwhelmed by negative emotions, and negative emotions lead to irrational choices.

Manipulators will use this one word to make you feel guilty. As you're busy hating yourself, the manipulator has distracted you from the main issue and created a smaller issue for you to focus on.

This is exactly how their actions are overlooked.

This is exactly how they remain in our lives.

Words are powerful, but only if you let them control you.
