What Valentines Day really mean? According to Wikipedia and other sources random, Valentines Day was originally called Saint Valentine's Day and was created to celebrate love and affection between "intimate friend."

Although Valentine's Day was officially founded in 500 AD by Pope Gelasius I, in 1969, Pope Paul VI took it from the Roman calendar of saints. Believe it or not, it started as a religious holiday in which people traditionally give gifts - such as flowers and candy - and it turned into one of the largest commercial fraud ever try and seize the contents of my wallet.

So, the old version of Valentine's Day is anywhere close to the new version? No, at least not according to most people I know. Valentine's Day from the point of view of a modern man harbor a completely different perspective. Basically, we just took ATM cards and emptied our bank account to kill the never ending merchants crap-slinging, who proceeded to tell our wives, girlfriends and people that we want to sleep with, what people should think, say and do to them.

Valentines really mean paying more for dinner, pay more for flowers, and say things that we do not want to say. It also means going to dinner at an expensive restaurant and was forced into a pre-packaged meal deal, which most likely would include items that you would never order and probably will not like. Men want a holiday for them for Valentines.

We have no recourse. Even if we wanted to do something romantic, it will eventually become a let-down. Because like any other form of communication that is a constant that women somehow reach - such as talking on the phone or texting non-stop about anything for hours - it just is not in our blood. So, chances are we will lose a tweet about the next biggest thing that every woman should have. I used to feel bad, now I just wish it was.

What can a man do to make her Valentines day fun and easy on the wallet? Do something "romantic" - like cooking dinner at home. Do not worry, you do not have to actually cook. Just buy a prime rib dinner from somewhere, such as a large grocery store deli, and remain in the oven. They had a dinner package overall for 1/4 the cost of a restaurant.

You can also buy champagne, and make your own chocolate covered strawberries together.

And the flowers? If you do not have them sent to his office, to try and have them delivered while you're there, they cook dinner. You may also be there to collect the reward. Maybe it will be worth the money.
