The sun had set a few minutes ago. I was walking on a plain street. Unfamiliar, yet fascinating. No rush, only a few people. Me, trees, tall buildings and depressing rain. Suddenly, out of nowhere- I jumped really high, and..........
Let's just leave it right there.
Similar situation, similar scenario. Just the rain wasn't that depressing... It was moody. It could go from a really pleasant aura to a dark-lonely vibe; in a jiffy. I was running in a strange city in that rain, with a coffee cup in my hand. 'Why did I start running?' is a different question, but after a while, my running didn't have a purpose. I was just running, not from something, not to somewhere. I was just running, like a musk deer running in search of its own fragrance. I didn't even care if people were looking at me.
After some meters, I came back to my senses & leaned against a tree by the road. I was exhausted. The rain was pouring heavily. It was so cold that my hands were shivering and it felt like they were frozen. I took a last sip from my 7-Eleven coffee cup. The aroma of that hot coffee, smell of wet soil, my perfume and a pinch of loneliness created a unique atmosphere. I started observing stuff......the cars coming and going, the buildings around me, the trees, the streetlights, my coffee cup, people walking alongside of the road,...... Suddenly, ripples of a mixed feeling of guilt and anger started forming in my mind. I didn't even know if those ripples were transforming into teardrops as I was soaking wet because of the rain. Yeah, just like many of those song lyrics. I started overthinking about the reason why I started running, questioning myself about my craziness. Clearly I had lost my path. Path of my thoughts and the path to my destination. I took out my phone to look for maps. I clicked some photos to keep my memories forever alive. I couldn't even operate my phone properly because my hands were so cold that I didn't feel the sense of touch. I kept waiting and waiting...... It slowly started drizzling. I started to walk again. This time, with a total sense of what I was doing. What happened next will remain a mystery.....And yeah! I still have that coffee cup with me.
Ok now back to the original story... So I jumped really high and... The land beneath my feet just vanished. It felt like I was falling from top of a 14th floor building.
Obviously,.. a dream. Or perhaps not! A person can actually be on top of a 14th floor building and he's so out of his mind & mingled with his own thoughts that he steps off the edge.......you'll never know. It's just like those famous lines - "Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality!"
