I miss you in places
I didn't know I could
The left side of my body
Feels chillier than my right
Like a flower that moves
To follow the sun
I turn towards your absence
Unconsciously
The air feels fuller there
It has a presence
A scrap of you
Left behind
My head feels heavy
I used to rest it on your shoulders
On times like these
You used to hate the weight
The memory of it makes me smile now
The French phrase it perfectly
"Tu me manques",they say
"You are missing from me"
Like half of me is lost
Has drifted into the ether
And I stumble where I expect to walk
I fall where I expect to stand
You are my phantom limb
A missing body part
I miss the comfort of you
A wordless assurance
I miss your voice
The way it feels like home
I miss your grumpy,sarcastic self
All the ways you make me laugh
I miss your intelligence,
I miss you.
