Lye treatment in the treatment of wooden floors
In the past, varnishing was considered the most common treatment for wooden floors, but today lye treatment is at least as common. Lye is a strong alkaline solution of e.g. sodium hydroxide, which inhibits the natural yellowing of the wood. Thus, lye acts as a very natural surface protection, as the solution highlights the structure and veining of the wood, and gives characteristic light wood floors. If you want a bright and natural look in your home, it is therefore recommended to take a closer look at a lye treatment.
