Pushing Forward Through Innovative Leadership

Info

In today's fast-growing market, there is a dire need to give innovative leaders in every business. Your team members cannot afford to stick to the old ways of doing business, which is why the skills of a leader in business can help boost productivity in many ways.

So if you are hoping to become an innovative leader yourself, here are a few ways that can help you get started.

Avoid Opting For the Best Practices

Many veteran leaders in business have often thought that some of the best practices of being a leader can actually restrict one's innovative and creative thinking. Instead, managers and business owners should encourage their employees to think outside of the box, take risks and go out of their way to experiment with the old ways to figure out new ones.

Sticking to the best practices is simply an excuse to stay with the ways that have already worked before. But what many of us do not know is that hardly two or three things work the same way as they did a few years ago. The world is rapidly changing, and you should do your best to enhance your own capabilities.

Improve Decision Making

Being a leader entails making decisions every day - but being an innovative leader means you need to take all sorts of different decisions that go beyond approving a few things.

As an innovative leader, you need to constantly think about new ideas and the process behind production, how you are going to move forward with it and if your team can handle the task. Sometimes, they have to make these quick decisions without having all the information at hand because they trust that their team will be able to pull it off.

To further improve on these tactics, it is essential that your team can effectively communicate any issues or disagreements that will come with the work. By reducing communication barriers and addressing the issue throughout the development departments, you put everyone on the same page and bring forth ways to effectively make decisions that will benefit your team and the company.

Being an innovative leader is not the easiest feat to achieve, but people like Dan Droz - an American industrial designer, entrepreneur, and one the best interdisciplinary sculptor of our time - can help you through their own career examples.

Droz has taken on several roles in his career, and when it comes to his leadership roles, you will see that he has many instances to offer. In 1972, he started as the Vice President of Planning and Product Development at Droz Corporation, a diversified manufacturer and distributor of steel and wood products and in 1988 he was invited by the United States Information Agency as a Guide Training Coordinator to lead the training of American guides for the world's largest design exposition.

Another one of his exceptional works includes starting his design career in Pittsburgh with Dan Droz Designs. This product design firm focuses on developing and manufacturing a line of peppermills and housewares distributed by H.E. Lauffer. Through his innovative leadership, he was able to expand the business into home furnishings and developed a broad range of furniture for manufacturers in Denmark, Canada, South Korea, and Taiwan - ultimately winning him the respect of many business individuals in the industry for his many successes over the years.
